Alumni Association Strengthening & Building Program
In May of 2010, Support4Recovery held its first gathering of fourteen recovery programs who either had or wanted to start an alumni association. It was our kick off for a very important project that we are undertaking.
The issue was identified by our Advisory Council who noticed that some of the existing associations were stronger than others and that some programs were in need of support to start their own associations. The Advisory Council knew that every program needs to have an alumni association to help current and former clients feel a part of. Individuals and their families at the same time need to have fun and fellowship, which is critical for ongoing recovery. The alumni can provide meetings, individual support, logistics support, social functions and much more. At the same time both the treatment programs and the alumni’s themselves benefit by this connection. That is why Support4Recovery has chosen this as an ongoing project.
